……monster!
With the help of an SA worker, we loaded this monstrously heavy thing into her van. Ooops…….the door won’t close. We drove about 15 miles in the middle of February (in New England!) with the hatch partially open. Brrrrr. It has sat in my (unheated) breezeway ever since.
About 10 days ago the weather was on the warmer side so I decided to tackle the project. The curvy lines and details were what attracted me to begin with…….
………are a huge nuisance to paint! I think I am on coat #4. And now I have to buy more paint! Like winter though, I’m in the homestretch.
Oh but when you get it finished you are going to love it! The hard work will pay off.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see.

Get busy, we are so curious. A really good primer is key I think. I would have been one of the people looking out the window watching you drive by in the snow and thinking that you were crazy. Sorry
ReplyDeleteOMG! What does it look like?????
ReplyDeleteIt was worth a "little" cold for this beautiful piece, wasn't it? Can't wait to see the finished product.

Sounds like you had a wonderful time but it's always nice to get back to your own bed.
Love the bookcase. I can't believe you hauled it on the subway!
Hi, thanks for visiting my blog! That hutch does look like a beast! A nice one, but still. Good luck working on it.
ReplyDeleteOoooo, that's a gorgeous piece! I'm going to guess that you're painting it white. I can't wait to see it when it's done, full of all kinds of treasures. Isn't it crazy, the lengths we'll go to, to get something home? I remember cramming some really old trellises that I found curbside into our station wagon. When I shut the hatch, the trellises knocked the rear view mirror right off the windshield! All of a sudden my free trellises weren't free anymore!
ReplyDeleteEven though you had to go througt some bad times, looking at it, to me it was worth it.
