Whadya think of this lovely crushed velvet baby? It had good bones so a rescue was in order.
A very sturdy piece.
Even the batting underneath was in good shape and clean.
I covered it with a new product (new to me anyway) called Warm & Natural Needled Cotton. I love it! And pretty inexpensive too! If I recall it was in the $4 to $5 range.
It’s so nice and soft ....... 87.5% cotton.
I went through my stash of fabric and shams and after much debate, I chose a shabby pink floral sham for the top. I had a pair of plain white quilted shams that I cut in half for the skirt.
Cut & pinned inside out.
Added some vintage buttons and…..

You turned that tacky ottoman into a real gem! You must have done this a time or two before, because I don't think an upholsterer could have done it any better!
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed! I love the fabric you used and the cute little detail of the pink button. It is great to be able to see beyond the old, ugly exterior and envision a brand new piece. Good for you!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty. I love the extra touch with the buttons.

ReplyDeleteThat ottoman was a little scary! You did a beautiful job refinishing it. I love the fabric you used. Have a great Thursday!
ReplyDeleteIf I saw you buying that ugly thing I wouldn't think you had bad taste, I'd be jealous that I didn't get to it first! What a wonderful re-do this is, it looks so pretty now. Great job.
ReplyDeleteWow! It doesn't even begin to resemble that ugly thing you started with. I love all things vintage, but that yellow and brown stuff had to go. Looks great now!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great transformation!! You definitely knew the potential in that piece when you bought it. I love the skirt with the buttons!!

ReplyDeleteI LOVE how this turned out. And I love that you used shams to do it. It's so fun to re-purpose old linens and make a gorgeous new treasure. Very cute!!!

How cute is that! This and your other projects are really nice. If I didn't spend so much time blog hopping I'd get more projects done.
