Ottoman Rescue! Mi4M and VTT

A couple of weeks ago I bought a very 60’s style ottoman.  It was so ugly I’m sure that anyone who saw me with thought I had lost my marbles.  Or at very least, they must have thought that I had the tackiest taste ever!

Ottoman Before
Whadya think of this lovely crushed velvet baby?  It had good bones so a rescue was in order.

Ottoman Before 3
A very sturdy piece.

Ottoman Before 2
Even the batting underneath was in good shape and clean.

Ottoman Batting 2
I covered it with a new product (new to me anyway) called Warm & Natural Needled Cotton.  I love it!    And pretty inexpensive too!  If I recall it was in the $4 to $5 range.

Ottoman Batting
It’s so nice and soft ....... 87.5% cotton.

I went through my stash of fabric and shams and after much debate, I chose a shabby pink floral sham for the top.  I had a pair of plain white quilted shams that I cut in half for the skirt.
Ottoman Pinned
Cut & pinned inside out.

Ottoman After CLOSE
Added some vintage buttons and…..

Ottoman After
Tada!
I'm linking up with Vintage Thingie Thursday and
Make It For Monday........ a lot of the great stuff.

  1. You turned that tacky ottoman into a real gem! You must have done this a time or two before, because I don't think an upholsterer could have done it any better!

  2. I'm impressed! I love the fabric you used and the cute little detail of the pink button. It is great to be able to see beyond the old, ugly exterior and envision a brand new piece. Good for you!

  11. If I saw you buying that ugly thing I wouldn't think you had bad taste, I'd be jealous that I didn't get to it first! What a wonderful re-do this is, it looks so pretty now. Great job.

  12. Wow! It doesn't even begin to resemble that ugly thing you started with. I love all things vintage, but that yellow and brown stuff had to go. Looks great now!

  16. How cute is that! This and your other projects are really nice. If I didn't spend so much time blog hopping I'd get more projects done.
    Happy Valentine's,
