Oh the cost of beauty…..primping and preening…..
From under ‘things’ ….
To legs.
And hair. And nails. Remember these funky hair dryers? I remember my mother had one but the shape was different and it looked like she had a strawberry on her head! Definitely not something she wanted to been seen in! But this…..
A “beehive bonnet”! All decorated up! Who would want to draw attention to themselves with this thing on their head? Crack.me.up. It’s not just me – is it?
I am joining the Vintage Thingy Thursday linky party hosted by Suzanne.

That beehive bonnet is too funny! Up until a couple of years ago my mom still used that type of hair dryer to dry her hair....just not quite that fancy! She now gets her hair done once a week at the beauty parlor (and yes, she still calls it a beauty parlor....too cute!)

My sister had one of those pink hairdryers with the nail buffer in the center! I remember using it many times too, and I really wish I had that thing now, because I'd display it in the bathroom. I'm more of an air-dry type of girl these days. Very low maintenance!
ReplyDeleteThis is so wonderful to read and see! I love anything vintage and the memories that go with them. I actually rmember having one of those hair dryers...boy do I feel old now!

I will really show my age, but I renumber all these things and used some of them. Some things I am glad time has changed.
ReplyDeleteI had forgot all about those hairdryers. I remember my mom and sisters sitting at the table with those "bonnets" on. I used to like to sit under them to fall asleep!
ReplyDeleteoh what a fun post, i do remember those funky hairdryers..they crack me up too LOL!!
ReplyDeleteI think I had a hairdryer just like those. It is strange how they seemed so much more advanced than the handheld ones.
ReplyDeleteLove it! What fun vintage ads!
ReplyDeleteLove this post, so much fun! I remember those portable hair dryers!
ReplyDeleteHappy VTT,

What a trip down memory lane! I remember everything in those catalog pages!
ReplyDeleteI have a contemporary bonnet hair dryer but it's not nearly as cool as that one with the rose! I blush to say that I want one.

P.S. Love your Kiva badge!
I remember drying my hair with a bonnet drier when I was little, but it wasn't nearly as pretty as these. Great post!
ReplyDeleteMaureen, thanks for the advice on downloading Windows Live Writer. I will try that since some search results have also mentioned it when I need help with Blogger. =0)
ReplyDeleteOh wow, this is so awesome! I have a few Vintage Slips and random bits of Old Beauty (tools), but this is really cool. I'd totally be just like a woman from the past, flipping through it while my hair was curling, lol!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Bender Oak Gifts!
Oh my! I remember those bonnet dryers when I was little!! I was born in the early '70s. I remember it felt good at first, but after a while it felt like your head was BAKING in it! lol!
