I have an admission. I have always been mesmerized by Marilyn Monroe. As a teenager before any details of her death were truly known, I felt sorry for her. I think it’s because I have a tendency to root for humble souls. She may have seemed all glitz and glamour, from what I have read, in her very heart and soul she was a country girl thrust into the limelight. Much like many of the young “starlets” (is it OK to use that word today?) of today.
Last summer my daughter, Chelsea, and I took a quick road trip to southern Maine – Kittery, York, Ogunquit. Along the way we stopped for dinner on Route 1 and discovered “Vinny’s”. Vinny likes Marilyn too!

Inside the restaurant is this life-sized statue. All lit up like the Hollywood star she was.

….and a painting

…..and a poster
……and a showcase
Next time you’re in Southern Maine, pop into Vinny’s, The food was good. Plus a fun place to see.
That is way cool. And you're right...she's just fascinating. I don't even know what it is exactly... even just her image on the screen. Still
ReplyDeleteVinny's definitely has a thing for Marilyn Monroe. Looks like a really cool place to eat and just look at the scenery.

That's so neat! I love finding places like that- they should be on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives on Food Network!
ReplyDeletePS- I did a report on Marilyn Monroe for my high school history final. We had to write a paper and then go out to dinner with the entire senior faculty and stay in character as our famous person the entire time while they asked us various questions. Probably the only time some one will tell me I look like Marilyn Monroe! ;)
I've never been to Vinny's. Sounds like a cool place that I would enjoy. Fun decor!
ReplyDeleteThanks for telling me about I antique online. It's a fun site!
